I think it’s pretty incredible when a band that’s been around for 20+ years puts out a new album, and it has some of their best work on it.
Think about it.
From my point of view, bands that have been around for a long time either completely change their style to try something new (ahem, Bring Me the Horizon), or their music writing style gradually changes over time to become something different (Pearl Jam).
Nothing wrong with that, but it leaves a lot of original fans disgruntled and not loving the new stuff. (But perhaps they capture a new audience with that technique?)
With Chevelle, their music is consistently good. Or, pretty much every time. (Some people may debate about The North Corridor, but I’m not going to get into that right here. Throw it in the comments if you’d like.)
Yes, the theme for each album changes, but you still hear classic Chevelle in all of them. And that’s why every time you see a Chevelle reaction video, someone (or lots of someones) in the comments inevitably says, “Chevelle is one of the best and most underrated bands around.”
Remember When is a perfect example of the beautiful consistency that is Chevelle. It’s from their 2021 album NIRATIAS. Even though I generally prefer faster songs than this one, it’s so good that it’s very high up in my personal Top 22 best Chevelle songs. (#6 at the time of this writing.)
Pete absolutely KILLS the vocals on this one.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the (many!!) reaction videos to Remember When and see if anyone else loves this song as much as I do.
Let me know in the comments what you think of Remember When. Is it as good as their older music? Does it fit into your personal Top 22?
